Museum Comes to Life, the Idaho State Historical Society’s annual living celebration of history, returns this year with new performances and a touch of space exploration at the Idaho State Historical Museum and surrounding Julia Davis Park in Boise . The annual program presents a rare chance for people of all ages to watch history come alive in person. The day’s festivities create a new form of time travel, enabling people to experience – or in some cases remember – what life used to be like.
More than 50 demonstrations and exhibits of historical skills and crafts will be in full motion throughout the entire day. Celebrating technology and artisans of the past, Museum Comes to Life visitors will see medieval reenactments of dance and jousting, experience a day in the life of a fur trapper, see how wool was originally spun, watch Civil War veterans fire the 1860’s-era cannon, and much more. A one-time addition to the event this year is the NASA Exploration Experience Trailer. The 60-foot Trailer enables people to learn about NASA’s most significant historical accomplishments, take a simulated visit to the moon, and participate in an interactive display of future space exploration vehicles. Museum Comes to Life will be Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.
